The Day of Galician Literature is a celebration held on May 17th to honor individuals who have distinguished themselves for their contributions to Galician literature. The Royal Galician Academy is responsible for selecting the individual honored each year. The first celebration of the Day of Galician Literature was in 1963, coinciding with the centenary of the first edition of Cantares gallegos (Galician Songs) by Rosalía de Castro. The date of the celebration is due to the fact that the first copy of Cantares gallegos (Galician Songs) was published in Vigo on May 17, 1863. This collection of poems marked the beginning of the "Rexurdimento" (Rebirth), or cultural renaissance in Galicia. IVAO Spain is collaborating with Air Nubeiro to pay tribute to this cause. Together with the Portuguese division, we will operate a one-way flight between Faro and Santiago.
